Event Schedule
NO ONE should participate if they have signs or
symptoms of Covid 19.
This year you are encouraged to preregister. Middle School, High School and College racers must submit rosters by Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
Saturday February 4, 2023:
8:30 AM – Registration and bib pick-up at Mt. Ashwabay, until 30 minutes before race starts.
9:30 AM – 3.5k Middle School Freestyle
10:15 AM – 7k High School Classic
11:00 AM – 25k College Pursuit
11:15 AM – Citizen Race Start – including: 30k Skate, 25k Pursuit, and 10k Classic.
12:30pm – .5k and 1.5k Kids Races – Free (no registration required, just show up at the start finish area)
For teams that want to be scored, the designated races are: for Middle School the 3.5k MS/Youth Race, for High School the 7k Classic Race, and for College the 25k Pursuit Race.
Due to weather and/or course conditions, the start may be delayed, race distances changed, or the event cancelled.
Races
The Mt. Ashwabay Summit Ski Race offers a 3.5k Middle School / Youth, 7k High School Skate Race, 25k college pursuit race (this is worldcup style, transition area to switch skis and poles). So for the pursuit race you do 10k classic first lap, then 15k skate the second lap. We are also offering citizen races, including: 30k Skate, 25k Pursuit, and 10k Classic. All races start and finish at the Mt. Ashwabay Chalet. Classic and skating lanes are provided throughout the skate courses. Middle School Racers are encouraged to do the 3.5k race, High School Racers are encouraged to do the 7k Classic Race.

Start
All races will be wave starts. Women will start 2 minutes behind the men.
Awards
The overall and team winners will receive a pie (this year they will be from local pie shops); Age group winners will receive a gift certificate for a pie.
Middle & High School Divisions:
MS: 5th-6th grade, 7-8th grade
HS: 9th-12th grade
Adult Race Age Divisions:
19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60- 69, 70+
This year there will be two awards ceremonies. One for MS and HS, one for college and citizen racers.
This is a community-run cross country ski race. Funds raised are used to promote youth ski development and quality trail grooming.
Ashwabay Outdoor Educational Foundation promotes the enjoyment of the outdoors, and healthy, strong communities. With Mt. Ashwabay Ski & Recreational Area as the base for activities, the Foundation offers an outstanding venue for healthful recreation to enhance physical fitness.
